Mel's Milers Jogging Club is based at Bluecoat Sports Centre at Christ's Hospital near Horsham in West Sussex, where founder and coach, Melanie Marlow, offers coached running sessions two mornings per week.
Friday morning is the regular weekly club run, with all abilities catered for, and several groups going out to cover a variety of routes, both off-road and on the quiet surrounding roads.
Evening runs are arranged throughout the year from various locations, as well as regular Sunday morning training sessions on the Downs from Findon, plus a variety of casual runs arranged amongst members.
The club has around 60 members, and an active social side which includes a Christmas party, a summer event, pub runs and bike rides, as well as after-run coffee drinking sessions. The emphasis is on enjoyment whilst encouraging one another to reach personal goals, with some fun and mud thrown in !
Each year the club donates money to a chosen charity from the proceeds of the annual 10k race. Past charities supported include Help for Heroes, Sussex Air Ambulance and the Royal Marsden. The 2015 10k took place on Sunday 29th March with the Alzheimer's Society being last year's charity. The 2016 race will be held on Sunday 3rd April. This year we will be raising much needed funds for Macmillan and the Sussex Cancer Fund. More details can be found on the Mel's Milers 10k page. Mel's Milers Jogging Club is affiliated to England Athletics and Sussex County AA.
