2022 Mel’s Milers Multi-Terrain 10K

RACE INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION

Thank you for entering the Mel’s Milers 10k, we hope you enjoy your run. Please note that chip timing will be used, so we ask entrants to collect their timing chips and race numbers from Race HQ immediately upon arrival. Please allow time for this.

NEW THIS YEAR – WATER

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE

We will have some water available, but would like to make the race more environmentally friendly by reducing the amount of plastic we use.

RACE HQ – Will be in the school’s Wakefield Centre, close to the Sport’s Centre. It will be manned from 8am for collection of race numbers and timing chips.

CAR PARKING – Is in the school’s marked car parks. Please note that parking is managed by an external company, not the school or race organisers. Cars not parked in an authorised place may receive a ticket. Please follow the signs and be guided by our marshals.

VALUABLES – It would be advisable to leave any valuables in your car if you have one with you. Belongings can be left in the Wakefield Centre but this centre will not be manned all of the time so we cannot guarantee the safety of any items left there.

START & FINISH – The start and finish are at the quadrangle within the school grounds, a short walk from the car park and race HQ. It will be signed and marshalled. Runners should make their way to the start at 9.45 am. After you have crossed the finish line, please continue through the funnel in order to have your chip removed and collect your medal.

We ask that you respect the school and keep off the grass areas near the start/ finish.

RESPECT FOR ALL RUNNERS, MARSHALS AND OTHER USERS OF THE SHARED PATHS

DOGS, PRAMS AND HEADPHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED.

It is important that you can hear the marshals and are aware of your surroundings as roads are not closed to traffic and there may be non-racers on the course. We ask that you treat all users of the paths with respect. Please listen to our marshals when they give you directions. There is an area of the course where runners will be passing in opposite directions, runners will requested to keep right at this section. Also because of the nature of our course we cannot allow Prams/Buggies or Dogs.

RESULTS – Will be displayed as soon as possible in the Race HQ.

Full results will be available through the RaceTimeResult site.

PRIZES – Will be awarded to the first three male and female runners to finish.

Awards will also be given to winners in the following age categories (age on race day):

  • Juniors 15-17 (U18) males and females
  • Veterans 40+ (V40), 50+ (V50), 60+ (V60), 70+ (V70), males and females

Winners of an age group who also finish in the top three overall will not receive more than one award. In this instance the age group award will be given to the next placed runner in that category. Presentations will take place at 11.30am in the Wakefield Centre.

MEDICAL PROVISION – Will be provided at the Start/ Finish. Anyone feeling unwell during the race should report to a marshal and stay with them until help arrives.

CHARITY – Thank you for your donations to our charity Over the Wall which will be passed onto the charity as soon as possible following the race together with the profits made by the race itself.

TRAVELLING TO THE EVENT

BY CAR – Postcode for SatNav: RH13 OYP

From the A24, take the B2237/ Worthing Road towards Christ’s Hospital. Turn left at the junction at the Boar’s Head Pub – beware this is a sharp turn. Follow this road for about 1 mile going under the A24 bridge. You will see the old school gates ahead on the right. Turn right just before the gates and follow this road for approx. ¼ mile before turning left through the main school gates. Park as directed by marshals.

BY TRAIN – London Victoria to Bognor Regis line.

Christ’s Hospital has its own mainline station from which the school is about 10 minutes’ walk via a pedestrian footpath.
